Samsung And Broadcom Develop Wi-Fi 8 With Integrated 5G
Broadcom announced a new fixed wireless access (FWA) platform that combines 5G and Wi-Fi 8 technology into a single integrated solution today. The company developed the platform in collaboration with Samsung aiming to improve home and business broadband performance while reducing power consumption and hardware complexity.
The platform is designed to help telecom providers deliver faster and more reliable internet service over wireless networks. By integrating both 5G connectivity and next-generation Wi-Fi 8 capabilities, the solution can support demanding applications such as AI workloads, cloud gaming, video streaming, and smart home devices.
Broadcom emphasized that the integrated design reduces the need for separate chips and components, which lowers costs and improves efficiency for manufacturers and service providers. The company also highlighted improvements in network stability, lower latency, and better handling of crowded wireless environments.

Samsung contributed its expertise in modem and wireless technologies to the partnership. The companies stated that the collaboration is intended to accelerate adoption of advanced FWA systems as demand for high-speed wireless broadband continues to grow worldwide.
Overall, the announcement positions the new platform as an important step toward next-generation wireless broadband infrastructure. Broadcom and Samsung believe the technology will help operators expand internet access more efficiently while providing users with faster, more dependable connectivity experiences.
Asus teased the first Wi-Fi 8 router during CES 2026 in Las Vegas at the start of the year, and they intend to launch it during the second half of the year.
