Sony Cinema Line FX2 Launch August 2025
The Sony Cinema Line FX2 (ILME-FX2B) will be released on August 14, with a preorder price starting from $2699: https://www.amazon.com/Sony-Full-Frame-Cinema-Camera-Body/dp/B0FB9PWP2Q/
That’s for the camera body only. With the XLR handle the launch price is $3099. And then you have to add the lenses if you don’t have any compatible lenses from before. So the criticism against this camera has been a relatively steep price for the intended users group.
Sony Cinema Line FX2 is a full-frame cinema camera designed for solo filmmakers, offering high mobility, operability, expandability, and reliability. It inherits the visual philosophy of Sony’s VENICE series, featuring a compact design and enhanced still image functions to support professional filmmaking.

The camera includes a 33-megapixel CMOS sensor, advanced autofocus with subject detection (AUTO, Human, Animal/Bird, etc.), and supports 4K video recording with variable frame rates.
It has a tiltable electronic viewfinder (EVF) and is compatible with Sony’s Catalyst Browse/Prepare apps for post-production. However, it’s not fully dust or moisture-proof, and the XLR Handle Unit (XLR-H1) lacks dust/moisture resistance.
The one thing about it that is useful though is its solo shooting convenience, so I think this may be the one are that the FX2 will be bought for, for those who can afford that on their budget.
