Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold Released January 30
Samsung is at last releasing the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold tomorrow on January 29, which is their largest foldable smartphone to date, that can turn from a 6.5-inch smartphone into a 10-inch tablet while still being very portable: https://www.samsung.com/us/smartphones/galaxy-z-trifold
In USA, it will be released from a starting price of $2899.
Since this is an exclusive foldable at launch, the production numbers aren’t as high as on the cheaper smartphone, so that brings up the cost. But all foldable smartphones costs quite a bit, and at least buyers should be getting a great mobile platform from which to work and be productive.

As the largest foldable smartphone to date, and the first foldable with two folding screens, is has an unfolded 10-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with 2160 x 1584 resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate, and as much as 1600 nits brightness.
The 6.5-inch regular side smartphone screen also has a Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen but with a resolution of 2520 x 1080, 120 Hz refresh rate, and an incredible 2600 nits brightness. With screens this bright, the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold can be used under very bright conditions outdoors.

If it was just a tablet computer it would have been one of the thinnest tablets ever made, with a thickness of just 3.9mm unfolded. And even in folded mode, it is still just 12.9mm thick, with a weight of 309 grams, all very impressive.
It has a punch hole camera on the front which won’t be to everyone’s liking, but it would have been difficult to place the camera on the bezel. The front cameras are two 10MP cameras on the main screen and cover screen. On the back it has a 200MP camera with 2x optical zoom, a 12MP ultra wide angle camera, and finally a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.

And with this being a flagship Samsung smartphone, it can of course record 8K video with these cameras.
Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold is powered by the 3nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy, with 16GB RAM, and options of 512Gb or 1TB of built in storage.
The benchmark scores for the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold have been clocking in at just over 3100 in single-core scores, and just above 10,000 in multi-core scores on the current Geekbench 6.5.0 for Android.

Samsung’s trifold smartphone ships with Android 16 out of the box, together with Samsung’s One UI 8 user interface on top of that, and years worth of promised support for the OS.
The battery juice is 5,600 mAh, with support for wireless charging 2.0 and Super-Fast Charging 2.0 at 45 Watt.
Samsung is protecting both the screens and back of this foldable with the latest development of Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, and for ruggedness it is rated with a IP48 water resistance, meaning it can withstand 1.5 meters of water for up to half an hour.
The first color to launch is the carbon fiber looking Crafted Black edition, and we’ll have to wait and see if Samsung will launch additional color options once this foldable has been sold for some time.
Samsung has been leading with the development of flexible displays for years, and we have seen foldable prototypes for over a decade, so it’s great to finally get to the point where we have these advanced products that push the envelope, now that Samsung has a lot of experience with how folding screens hold up in the real world.
So this is for sure one of the most interesting new technology products of 2026.
