PlayStation announced today that they’ll release the PlayStation Pulse Elevate Wireless Speakers in time for Christmas, with release starting on November 12, though they’ll start taking preorders from September 1, at 10AM ET in the US. The MSRP launch price will be $219.99.

And I guess that launch also launches a new product category – Gaming Speakers.

The PlayStation Pulse Elevate Wireless Speakers are Sony speakers, so the expectations are high for the audio quality and features. But even though Sony owns PlayStation, these gaming speakers are made to support as many media, video and computer gaming systems as possible, from PlayStation to Windows and Mac, as well as handheld gaming consoles, since these speakers are wireless.

Color options will be lack or white. They are described as low latency speakers, with rechargeable battery, they come with a PlayStation Link USB adapter, and they have mics for conversations as well as noise-cancelling. So it sounds like the should work well with livestreaming of games too then.
